No Spend September

Tomorrow starts my "No Spend" month. I'm cutting out any personal spending, or non essentials. My main reason for doing this is to reset my spending behaviors. I was doing really good this year, but July I started to see myself impulse buying on too many things. August, I did much better, but September is going to be even better.

Impulse buying is fun, but I don't  feel like appreciate every thing that I buy. I have instant gratification, but often I forget about it pretty quickly. In September the things I want right now, will probably be forgotten or deemed not "necessary" by the end of it. This will be an interesting test. Many things that we want are forgotten over a few weeks, but if we buy it right now. We don't give our self the time to "forget" about it. I really want to appreciate what I have, and I plan to shop my own stuff during this month. Try on clothes, I don't normally wear but have hanging in my closet. Rotate my makeup, and try products I haven't tried in awhile.

I have one hour during my lunch break, and often I go shopping. Almost every day, I go browsing. This is something I want to cut out. On my break, I want to read, blog, watch Netflix. Do something else! If I want to walk, walk outside but not go to any stores.

Online shopping will be hard, but it's behavioral. At the beginning of the year, I went 6 months without buying anything online. Once it's not apart of my "routine" I forget about it. I also unsubscribed from alot of Youtube channels because when they all start raving about a product, I decided I need it too.

I'm nervous, but also excited. I find it very easy to fall back into my impulse buying habits, and I'm so proud of the progress I've already made this year. Time to keep progressing. Tell my money what to do, and I don't want to waste it on things I don't appreciate in the end.

If We Were Having Tea (Life Update)

If We Were Having Tea, I would tell you that I'm getting ready for my "No Spend" month. I'm really determined and looking forward to saving money and probably putting it into my Christmas Fund. Yes, I started saving for Christmas. Dave Ramsey is awesome! I'm still listening to his show in the afternoons, he keeps me motivated.

If We Were Having Tea, I would tell you that Caleb is growing and learning every day. My favorite thing he said this week was "I'm frustrated, and my back hurts." As he stomped off to his room, and was "frustrated" while Skyping his grandfather. He's changing classroom's this week, and I'm hoping it goes well. Caleb get's really attached to teachers and people, so I'm thinking this will be hard for him. His cousin is following behind probably tomorrow, and I think he will be better once they are together again.

If We Were Having Tea, I would tell you that I'm reading "Money Talks" by Gail Vaz-Oxlade. I'm liking it, but I'm not loving it like I enjoyed Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover."

If We Were Having Tea, I would tell you that I'm testing out to new Kobo Aura one. I'll have a review up in a few days. So far, I'm enjoying it and I like the bigger screen.

If We Were Having Tea, I would tell you that I bought some new David's Tea fall teas, and I'm so happy that fall is around the corner. I'm ready for sweaters, and tea, and cozy blankets in the evening. Fall is my favorite season, winter....not so much.

Gearing Up For A No Spend September Challenge

I'm gearing up for a no spend September challenge. I saw a few Dave Ramsey Youtubers mention a "No Spend September" challenge and thought it would be interesting to try. I remember I did something similar in university, I challenged myself not to buy anything for a month. I'm interested in this challenge, because it would help me get back into not going to stores on my lunch break, not browse so much and get away from online shopping. It would also allow me to read on my lunch, blog a bit more and figure out other things I want to do. I will still be allowed to buy essentials, such as groceries but not allow me to go to a restaurant to pick up my lunch. It has to be essential for me to buy it. Initially, when I saw The Former Mrs Jones' video on Youtube, I thought it would be fun but hard and I didn't think I would want to do it. /However, I changed my mind. I think it'll be fun, and definitely something I can do. I'll blog about the challenge and my progress.

Here is the video from The Former Mrs Jones.

Morphe 12S and 12NB Palettes

Confession: I'm an eyeshadow junkie. I love neutral palettes, and I love palettes that you can pick up and know that they will work for you every, single, time...

I purchased the 12NB palette first. I wanted to try Morphe products and thought this would be a good place to start. It's a great palette for travel, and neutral. This quickly become one of the palettes always on my vanity. It's a great companion palette, and a great everyday palette. The mattes are great, the shimmers are nice but not metallic. Looking at this palette online, I thought the orange would be more "orange" but it's more of a brownish/orange color.

I purchased the 12S palette, I was really happy that I decided to order it. These shades are metallic, and amazing! These are great all over the lid shades for me.

Kobo Aura One

I'm so excited that Kobo has launched a new ereader. I've been using Kobo Readers for about 5 or more years. I've had the Kobo Touch, Kobo Glo, Kobo Vox, kobo Mini, Kobo Aura and the Kobo H20. It's safe to say that I really do enjoy Kobo's ereaders. All of my purchased books are through Kobo. I'm excited to test this one out. If you're looking for a new ereader, check this one out!
